Improving Online Class Quality for Meeting Students Expectation
The Method of our teaching is changing nowadays. No more physical classes allowed due to COVID-19.Teaching online is new to most of the faculties. So, I guess most of the faculties as well as students are facing some problems in creating and attending online classes. I have done a little bit of research and found that student expectation is not meeting. It is obvious that students have some expectations because they might have gone through quality online courses in Coursera, Udemy, or Edx.
Students Value quality content first
and foremost. So, In any online class Quality of Video, Audio Quality and Presentation of contents are super important.
Few Tips for Improving:
Video Quality:
HD video is now a universal expectation.
Beyond that, students ability to see what’s
on-screen directly impacts the quality of
their learning experience.
A good video is:
- In HD, 720p or 1080p with 16:9 aspect ratio Clear, not blurry, so students can see you and your learning material easily.
- Steady, not shaky
Audio Quality:
Faculties should have USB Mic (Best), Headphone, or Normal earphone. The Default Mic quality of Laptop/PC is not so good.
Good audio has:
- No background noises or hums (usually comes from electronics, appliances, environmental noise, and mic setup issues)
- Little to no echo (usually comes from undampened hard surfaces in your recording space or from recording in too big a space)
Noise and Echo are the two most common problems while teaching Online. Clothes, Blankets are good sound absorbers that are easily available in any home which may help to avoid echo. Watch the video to get more clarity.
Note: If you are having mic setup issues search it on google. Let me know in the comment if you are still unable to fix it.
